Man accused of forging check from employer

BENTON, IL (KFVS) - Police arrested a man accused of forging a check from his employer.

Jamal Oxford was arrested in Benton, Ill.  He is charged with forgery for allegedly stealing a check from his employer, the Southern Illinois Storm Shelter.

Oxford is accused of writing a check out to himself for an undisclosed amount and cashing at a bank.

Oxford is also in trouble in Williamson County on felony theft charges where he is accused of stealing $10,000 from Barnett Electric in Marion where he worked as the office manager.

Oxford was taken to the Franklin County Jail on $50,000 bond.

His preliminary hearing is set for April 18 at 1:30 p.m.
