CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - As construction crews bust concrete along Broadway in downtown Cape Girardeau, business experts want to make sure shops and restaurants along the route survive the mess, and thrive once the project is complete.
That's why the Small Business and Technology Center at Southeast Missouri State is partnering with the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Old Town Cape to help Broadway business owners over the next several months.
Center Interim Director Sandra Cabot says they've already sat down with a few local owners.
"Some of them are using it as an opportunity to look at their inventory strategies," Cabot said. "Some of them are offering free delivery options for the first time. Some of them are taking it as an opportunity to beef up their social media strategies."
Cabot says some of the services available include immediate business development counseling, marketing plan update and review, and how to keep customers coming in despite the inconvenience.
"Whether it's a retail-based business or maybe it's a restaurant, they will all have different strategies," she explained. "And communication is a key to that."
