KENNETT, MO (KFVS) - The Kennett Humane Department seized three pitbulls they say may have involved in dogfighting.
Kennett Humane Officer Tina Petix says the dogs showed signs of injuries to the face and legs and those injuries are consistent with what she has seen on dogs involved in illegal dog fights.
Petix says the animals were chained up in the backyard of a home on College Street when the department seized them on April 5.
Two men are now accused of violating a Kennett ordinance that bans the breed.
"Usually if you get to know one (pitbull dogs) usually they're all right, but if you just walked up with one I would be frightened of it especially if it bears teeth at me," said Marie Ferrell of Kennett.
The two men are scheduled to be in court Wednesday afternoon.
