STODDARD COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - Family and friends of a Jackson woman confronted the man accused of brutally raping the woman in March.

They lined the street today as Steve Rendleman went to court for a second time, Thursday in Stoddard County.

Victim's friends feel that should have kept behind bars.

"We were disgusted that he was released from jail and we didn't even know it," said Jenny Nelson, a family friend. "There needs to be something to protect people.  We want to make sure that Rendleman goes to jail forever, and women and children are safe."

Rendleman faces eight charges including forcible rape, sodomy, kidnapping, and felonious restraint.

According to court papers, Rendleman left Charley Brown's bar in Advance with the victim in his truck, took her to a cemetery and raped her.

Records indicate he has two rape convictions from 1984 and 1990.

Rendleman also pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct charges in Cape Girardeau County in 2009.
