WAPPAPELLO LAKE, MO (KFVS) - The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers at Wappapello Lake will begin rehab work on the entrance to the Redman Creek Recreation Area on April 9.

The work is part of a larger project to rehab and provide access to the Redman Creek Recreation Area.  The flood of 2011 washed away the access road.  A temporary access was constructed last year near the Visitor Center. The new access will be constructed at that location.

The project includes road widening, improving the entrance to Redman Creek and Visitor Center area from T Highway, and design and parking lot changes to the Visitor Center area

The work will take about one month to complete with weather permitting.

The vehicle access road to the area will be closed. The area will remain open to pedestrian use. Access to the area will be available through stairs behind the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center.

These improvements for the entire project are scheduled to be completed this year.

Those with questions about the work or other topics are asked to contact the Wappapello Lake Project Office at (573) 222-8562.
