STEELE, MO (KFVS) - Pemiscot County Sheriff's deputies arrested a man after finding a large amount of prescription medication, believed methamphetamine, and 30 weapons.
Joe Ben Baxter, 68, of Steele is charged with distribution, delivery, manufactor, produce or attempt to or possess with the intent to distribute,deliver, manufacture or produce a controlled substance a Class B felony.
Police executed search warrants at two places east of Steele on Hwy. 164. One of the locations was Baxter's property.
Agents with the Bootheel Drug Task Force, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Caruthersville and Steele police departments and Pemiscot County Sheriff's deputies seized a substantial amount of prescription medication and several grams of methamphetamine along with about 30 weapons.
Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell says the Baxter investigation was a joint effort for the last couple of months involving several law enforcement agencies.
Baxter posted a $100,000 and is expected to appear before Judge Byron Luber on April 5.
