Crash into farm equipment saves woman from plunging 50 feet

DUTCHTOWN, MO (KFVS) -

A car crash into farm equipment saved a woman from plunging her car 50 feet down an embankment.

Sunday morning around 10:45 a.m. a woman was driving North on Highway 25 a mile north of Dutchtown, Mo. and crashed into some farm equipment on the side of the road.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, Imogene M. Dumey, 85, of Dutchtown was reaching for something on the dashboard, ran off the road crashing her car into a front-end loader bucket.

Troopers tell Heartland News that the crash into the object saved the woman from plunging down a 50 foot ditch.

The woman was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital for moderate injuries.  Her car was totaled in the crash.

Troopers say Dumey was wearing a seat belt.
