Update on Giant City State Park damaged by tornado

UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS) - In an update on Giant City State Park damaged by the tornado on February 29, two trails remain closed.

According to Superintendent of Giant City state Park Bob Martin, the Post Oak Trail is closed due to the damaged small over-look with a observation deck, which is wheelchair accessible.  The trail also has many cedar trees down.

Martin says he hopes to have it repaired.

On the second trail which is the 12 mile Red Cedar Hiking Trail, he says 50-70 trees are uprooted.

According to the National Weather Service the tornado that hit that area took the trail path.
