Harrisburg Police bust business for allegedly selling synthetic drugs

HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) - Police in Harrisburg make a big "bath salt" bust at a business in town; this time the products were sold as "shoe deodorizer."

Police say they also found synthetic marijuana in the business sold as potpourri or an "herbal sachet."

Harrisburg Chief Bob Smith says both substances are illegal.

Officers went into the Harrisburg business undercover on March 27 to buy the alleged synthetic drugs, that's sold for $30 per package.

After a judge granted a search warrant, the police walked out of the store with what adds up to more than $14,000 worth of the stuff.

The business owner's name is being withheld until the crime lab positively identifies the substances as an illicit drug.

Chief Smith says due to the amount of synthetic drugs confiscated by weight, the business owner could face a Class X felony.
