1 arrested after arson fire in Kennett

KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -

A woman was arrested on an arson charge after a fire in Kennett Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Kennett Fire Department, Sherry Thomas of 1416 Ballard Street was arrested.

Dunklin County Prosecutor Steve Sokoloff says Sherry Thomas, 26, of Kennett is facing an arson second degree charge.

The building was a complete loss due to extensive smoke, heat, and fire damage.

There were no working smoke/heat detectors due to the batteries being removed, according to the fire department.
