Former UofL employee arrested for fraud, money laundering

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) – The University of Louisville's former Equine Industry Program Coordinator has been charged with wire fraud and money laundering.

41-year-old Alisha Ward was fired from her job at UofL last March.

At the time, internal auditors said they found $473,000 stolen from the equine program and another $88,000 in questionable expenses, but Wednesday was the first time she actually faced criminal charges.

If convicted, Ward faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
