Man covered in gasoline threatens to set himself on fire

DYER COUNTY, TN (KFVS) - Dyer County, Tennessee deputies say a suspect threatened to set himself on fire after they confronted him.

According to Sheriff Jeff Box, deputies confronted the man Sunday afternoon about his alleged violation of a protection order.

Police say that's when the 44-year-old Newburn man doused himself with gasoline and announced that he would light the gas on fire if deputies came in the house.

After about an hour, the man gave himself up to deputies.

He was taken to an area hospital.
