MURRAY, KY (AP) - Murray State knows its long layoff is about to end after drawing a surprising 6 seed in the West region of the NCAA tournament and a matchup with Colorado State on Thursday.
The Racers (30-1) received a seed slightly lower than expected, but got a much better opening draw by only having to travel to Louisville - about three hours away from their campus - and will likely bring a large contingent as the model mid-major this season.
Murray State finished the regular season ranked 11th and is the only team in Division I not to lose on the road this year, but has an 11-day gap between its victory in the Ohio Valley Conference championship and it's first game against the Rams (20-11) in the NCAA tournament.
