Southern Ill. small businesses lend hand to tornado victims

HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) - Small businesses across southern Illinois are lending a helping hand to the people affected by the tornado.

More than 15 shop owners set up Saturday at the American Legion in Harrisburg.

Plus, dozens of other businesses donated items up for grabs at the events silent auction.

Business owners feel a fundraiser like this would be the best way to help their fellow colleagues get back on their feet.

"As small vendors we feel like we are a family that can give back," said Toni Hines. "We are from all over southern Illinois. And we have felt like it is our part to give back to the community to help rebuild Harrisburg and Saline County."

The small business vendors' fundraiser proceeds are being donated to the Saline County Disaster Relief Fund.
