MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the reported drowning of a two-year-old boy on his family's property in rural Murphysboro.
A preliminary investigation indicates the two year old wandered from his parents' supervision on Feb. 20, according to the sheriff's office.
When the parents couldn't find the boy, family members searched the area and found him in a body of water on the family's property a short time later around 7:30 p.m.
An autopsy has been ordered.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Coroner's Office, and Department of Children and Family Services are investigating which is normal procedure.
