Redhawks lose to McNeese State

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Patrick Richard scored 27 points and McNeese State extended its winning streak to eight games, beating Southeast Missouri State 74-61 on Saturday.

Richard went 8 of 14 from the floor and made all three of his 3-point attempts for the Cowboys (15-10) in the Bracket Busters matchup.

Desharick Guidry finished with 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Southeast Missouri State led 49-47 with 12:59 left in the second half when Tyler Stone knocked down a jumper.

About four minutes later, McNeese State pulled ahead by four points, 55-51, on a layup by Daniel Richard. Southeast Missouri State cut the margin to three points on Michael Porter's layup with 3:18 to play.

But the Redhawks were held scoreless the rest of the way by the Cowboys, who closed the game with 10 straight points. Nick Niemczyk scored 18 points for Southeast Missouri State (14-13), which lost its second straight game.
