A man charged with murder has pleaded guilty Friday to a deadly stabbing that happened over three years ago in Williamson County .

Charles Davis, 54, pleaded guilty to first degree murder charges and was sentenced to 35 years in prison for the deadly crime, according to Jimmy Dean, Williamson County State's Attorney's Assistant.

His trial was to begin on February 7, 2012.

Davis faced the murder charge after the stabbing death of a 26-year-old woman in Williamson County in September 2008.

The stabbing happened in the 7800 block of Spillway Road near Crab Orchard Lake.

The victim was 26-year-old Andrea Heiken.  She and her two children were home at the time of the stabbing. The children were not hurt.

After a short standoff with deputies, the suspect was arrested in the victim's apartment.

Investigators say the two knew each other but were not related.

Davis was taken to an undisclosed hospital after the stabbing.  That's because when police captured him he stabbed himself in the chest, but survived.
