BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday, Butler County Sheriff Mark Dobbs confirmed that Joy Arnold had been found and was alive and talking.

According to Sheriff Dobbs, the 63-year-old woman was huddled behind a hedgerow for shelter under a blanket. The sheriff says the signal from her cell phone came back on and they were able to use this to track her location within 80 feet.

She was found about 100 yards from the intersection of Highway TT and PP. According to the sheriff she was talking with rescuers and family and told them she just got lost.

Crews in Butler County spent the night searching for Arnold in the woods. Investigators say the woman has medical issues and was disoriented.

Members of the Butler County Sheriff's department tell Heartland News a neighbor called their department around 6:30 p.m. to report 63-year-old Joy Arnold missing.

Deputies were using the woman's cell phone to track her to a location near County Road 423/424. But her phone's signal was lost.  Dobbs says authorities found the woman's purse near Hwy PP and Hwy TT. So crews focused their search in this area.

Monday night's cold temperatures were a major concern for Arnold's safety.

The Butler County Sheriff's Office, Butler County Fire Department, Southeast Missouri Search and Rescue, Scott County Search and Rescue, and the Missouri Highway Patrol all assisted in the search and rescue of Arnold.
