2 hospitalized after crash in Massac County

MASSAC COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Two people were injured Thursday evening in a two-car crash in Massac County.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at Powers Church Road and Route 145 in Massac County.

Troopers say a pick-up truck driven by Harvey B. Parker, 91, of Metropolis was stopped at a stop sign on Powers Church Road headed westbound. And, a car driven by Michael P. Simmons, 50, of Metropolis was headed southbound on State Route 145. 

Parker tried to cross Route 145 in the truck and drove into the path of Simmons' car, hitting it on the side, according to state police.

Simmons received incapacitating injuries and was taken by EMS to Massac Memorial Hospital.

Parker received incapacitating injuries and was taken by Air Evac to a Cape Girardeau hospital.

Troopers say both drivers were wearing seat belts.
