(WMC-TV) - A woman was caught on camera stealing money meant to help people with cancer from a Dyersburg Mexican restaurant.

At the beginning of the video, the woman is seen paying for her food.  When the clerk stepped away, she helps herself to a donation jar sitting on the counter.

The video shows her reaching her arm behind her and sliding the jar off the counter.  She then turns and faces the camera as she stuff the jar down the front of her pants.

"When the clerk comes back, she takes her order and leaves the building," said Captain Roger Dudley with Dyersburg police.  "And within a minute or so, she comes back for something else."

Dyersburg police feel certain someone will recognize the woman and turn her in for stealing from those in need.  The police department does not know for sure, but believes the woman is likely from the area.

The department has received some calls, but still has not learned who the woman is.

Dyersburg residents said they are upset someone would do something like this.

When located, the woman will be charged with theft under $5,000.  Restaurant owners believe the jar held anywhere from $75 to $90.

If you recognize the suspect, please call the Dyersburg Police Department.
