INDEPENDENCE, KY (FOX19) - Governor Steve Beshear and First Lady Jane Beshear were in Northern Kentucky Saturday morning, visiting the families of troops overseas.
The governor was visiting families of members serving in the 1204th Aviation Support Battalion, which is made up of approximately 325 soldiers from Kentucky and an additional 275 soldiers from Alabama, Florida and Maryland.
Governor Beshear described his visit with the families as a way to, "Just tell them that our thoughts and prayers are with them, and how proud we are of them, and also how proud we are of these families. They couldn't do their jobs if these families weren't giving them the kind of support they need."
The troops of the 1204th are currently deployed to Iraq and Kuwait, and are expected to return home later next year.
