DUNKLIN COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The sheriff of Dunklin County is warning residents to beware of suspicious phone activity.
Sheriff Bob Holder says residents are getting phone calls from people claiming to be "Medicare representatives who are asking for personal information."
He says the persistent callers are asking specifically for banking information and account numbers.
Holder says some people in the area have lost most all of the money in their checking accounts.
The sheriff warns "not to provide personal or banking information over the phone to someone you don't know."
Holder says if you have questions about a caller it is best to let family or law enforcement know about it.
