Assistant football coach accused of trying to get explicit pictures from student

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A McCracken County assistant football coach is charged with various sex-related crimes against a minor.

Austin W. Patterson, 32, of Paducah was charged Friday with unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities and attempted use of a minor in a sexual performance.

According to the sheriff's office, they were contacted on November 21 by the school resource officer regarding an inappropriate relationship between a 17-year-old Lone Oak High School student and an in-school detention proctor and assistant football coach.

Sheriff's deputies say Patterson and the student had been exchanging text messages of a sexual nature.

According to the sheriff's office, Patterson is also believed to have tried to get nude or sexually explicit photos from the student by cell phone.
