PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) - A Paducah man who was volleyball team volunteer was charged Friday with various sex crimes against a minor.
According to the sheriff's office, a complaint was filed with the McCracken County Sheriff's Department on Thursday by parents of a minor child alleging that their child had been involved in a sexual relationship with a 43-year-old man.
According to the sheriff's office, an investigation revealed that the suspect had engaged in sexual contact a number of times with the minor, which included exchanging photographs and text messages of a sexual nature. A number of items of electronic evidence was collected in the investigation.
Michael S. Tapscott, 43, of Paducah was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with three counts of use of a minor under 18 in a sexual performance, distribution of obscene matter to a minor.
Tapscott was a volunteer and assisted with the Lone Oak Volleyball team.
The sheriff says Tapscott was not charged under the statute that addresses "a person of authority to the victim."
Tapscott was taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
