CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Unless they have other jobs lined up, employees of Cape Girardeau's Town Plaza Five theater are now looking for work.

The nearly 40-year-old theater closed for good Thursday night.

The AMC chain bought the place from Kerasotes just last year, but AMC recently said the Town Plaza Five can no longer compete in this market.

The place is full of memories.

For instance, one former employee recalls seeing movies there well before he was an employee.

"Well, I used to go see movies here with my mom," said William Hargrove, former theater manager.  "She always used to love to bring me here.  I think maybe one of my first movie memories was a re-release of the '101 Dalmatians.'"

"I just met so many great people there," said Benjamin Fleming, former theater employee.  "I mean, I met so many good friends and everything.  People that I still talk to, to this day.  You know and it was like a family."
