A St. Francois County police chief remains in critical condition at a St. Louis hospital after a weather-related crash.
According to the Leadwood mayor, Chief Jerry Hicks was driving his patrol car on Highway 8 during Tuesday's terrible weather. Hicks' car hit black ice near a bridge, slid off the road and hit at tree.
Earlier Thursday evening a prayer vigil was held for the chief.
This Sunday, officers plan to pump gas for tips at the Leadwood BP gas station to raise money for the Hicks family.
