Olive Branch family loses almost everything in early morning fire

OLIVE BRANCH, IL (KFVS) -

Firefighters from the Horseshoe Lake Fire Department were called to the scene of a house fire in Olive Branch Thursday morning around 1:30.

The trailer home is off of Fayville Rd. close to the Kozy Korner Cafe on Route 3.

According to firefighters, there was a family of four inside the home when the fire started. Inside was a grandfather, grandmother, their son and grandson.

All of them were able to initially escape the fire, but the adult son ran back into the home to try save the family dog. This man was burned and was treated at the scene by a medical responder.

The family dog and a cat were killed in the fire.

According to the fire department, the family also lost their Christmas presents and everything else in the blaze. The family does not have insurance, but the Red Cross has already stepped in to help.

At this time we do not have further details about the family involved in the fire.

Investigators are not releasing a cause to this fire yet, but the state fire marshal has been called in to investigate.
