CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Cape Girardeau police say a man faces charges in connection to showing a gun Wednesday evening outside of a convenience store.
James. H. Swift, 38, of Jackson was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon. He was taken to the Cape Girardeau County Jail on a $7,500 bond.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kidd's Convenience Store on Broadway.
Officers say Swift was pumping gas and got into an argument with a female driver of another vehicle who was waiting to use the pumps.
"He allegedly went to return to his car, retrieved a pistol and put it into his waistband," said Officer Darin Hickey.
Police say at this time they do not believe he pointed the gun at the woman. Officers say Swift has a valid concealed carry permit.
Even with a permit, it is against the law to display the weapon.
"You can't display it in any threatening manner," said Hickey.
No one was hurt during that incident.
