Six Men Now Arrested In Child Porn Ring By: Arnold Wyrick
MOUNT VERNON, IL -- Investigators in Mount Vernon have identified six men so far as suspects in a Child Porn Ring. The six men are all charged with possessing child pornography, some face charges of prostitution, sexually assault of a minor, and manufacturing child pornography.
Jefferson County State's Attorney Gary Duncan is one of the men who will be taking these men to court. "It's already involving several jurisdictions. I meet this morning with several officials from other Illinois counties, including Williamson County. And with Federal authorities," says State's Attorney Duncan.
Duncan says the images captured on hundreds of disks show adults having sex with kids from 13 to 17 years old. "I think people who are willing to purvey child pornography, damage not only the community as a whole, but they damage specifically young people," said Duncan. And Duncan says this case may be the biggest he's ever taken before a judge. " In my eleven years as a prosecutor here, I don't ever remember anything that has the potential to be this widespread. It's just a very destructive crime. So there's no question about devoting whatever resources it takes to handle these case, we will," said Duncan.
The men who've been arrested so far are 41 year old Anthony Banks of Mt. Vernon, 24 year old Greg Shelton of Bonnie, 18 year old Greg Hall of Mount Vernon, 35 year old David Cameron of Marion, 24 year old Travis Snow of Mount Vernon, and 21 year old Jarrod Griffith of Woodlawn.
