KENNETT, MO (KFVS) - Police arrested two people accused of trying to rob two stores in the Missouri Bootheel.
Daren Orvil Holyfield, 26, of Sikeston and Sasha Renee Stricklin, 27, of Corning, Ark. were arrested Sunday in Clay County, Arkansas.
According to the Dunklin County Sheriff's Office, a man came into Lack's Package Store at 15009 State Hwy. 84 west of Kennett on Sunday saying he had a weapon and wanted money.
The suspect and Johnny E. Lack. Jr. scuffled until the suspect left the store, got into a vehicle, and left westbound into Arkansas.
Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder says the suspect and a female turned onto a field road and got stuck in the mud.
Kennett PD and Dunklin County Sheriff's Office responded after getting permission from Arkansas to pursue the suspects. The suspects were arrested and turned over to Clay County deputies.
The car used in the attempted robbery was stolen out of Corning, Arkansas, according to the sheriff's office.
Holyfield and Stricklin are also accused to trying to rob the Express Convenience Store on Hwy. 53 in Campbell, Mo. before attempting to rob Lack's Package Store in Kennett.
The suspects did not get anything from either robbery attempt.
Charges are expected to be filed for both attempted robberies and the vehicle theft.
