Two killed in Jackson County crash

JACKSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says two people have died in single-vehicle crash on Boskeydell road.

Deputy Michael Marks reports that Martin Flores of Anna, IL was driving west on Boskeydell Road when Flores swerved to avoid a deer.

Marks says two passengers in the backseat of the car were ejected and pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. 

Nicole Renee Charles, 37, and her 14-year-old daughter Madison Stone both of Energy, Illinois were killed in the crash.

Flores and a fourth passenger were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Visitation for Charles and Stone will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin, Illinois.  Their funeral will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Alto Pass Cemetery in Alto Pass.

    A fundraiser is in effect in Southern Illinois between Shawnee Tactical Solutions and the Stop the Bleeding Coalition to put specialized trauma kits in the hands of police departments.

    In an effort to save more lives in active shooter situation and beyond, Shawnee Tactical Solutions and the Stop the Bleeding Coalition are partnering up to put special trauma kits in the hands of police officers.
