Crash sends 2 to hospital in western Ky.

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Three people were injured in a two-car crash Friday sending two people to the hospital.

The crash happened where the US 60 westbound lane entering McCracken County from Livingston County where it merges onto Clarks River Road.

According to the sheriff's office, Nathan Powell, 27, of Ledbetter had stopped waiting for traffic to clear, and was preparing to merge/cross US 62-Clarks River Road.

Deputies say Powell crossed traffic and was turning into James Marine when he pulled into the path of a car going westbound driven by Karla D. Hessler.  According to the sheriff's office, Hessler's account, evidence at the scene and witnesses testimony showed Hessler could not avoid the crash.

The crash sent both vehicles into a ditch.

Hessler and her 10-year-old daughter received what deputies call apparent minor injuries and were taken by EMS to Lourdes Hospital.

Powell injured his arm, but refused treatment at the scene. He was cited to court for failing to maintain insurance.
