CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - The Occupy Carbondale group held a peaceful protest Thursday evening to mark the two-month anniversary of the Occupy movement.
The crowd gathered outside of the Paul Simon Federal Building at 4:30 p.m. carrying signs and that read things like: "We are the 99%" and "Corporations aren't people until Texas executes one."
Participants say they are protesting federal policies that favor corporations over citizens.
"We want all people to be represented by our government, and I don't think that's going to happen until we get money out of politics," said Occupy protestor Fran Jaffe of Anna.
The group also handed out flyers to federal employees who work in the building explaining their position.
This was the Occupy Carbondale group's first protest since moving its occupy headquarters off campus to a new location at the Big Muddy Independent Media Center.
