State of Illinois behind on utility payments to Pinckneyville

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) - The state of Illinois is behind on its utility bills again in Pinckneyville.

This comes after the city took the state to court to get paid for way overdue water, sewer and natural gas payments for the Pinckneyville prison.

Mayor August Keller man says now the state is once again four months behind to the tune of $450,000.

Kellerman says since the agreement was to pay monthly, the state broke its contract with the city.

So the mayor plans to draw up a new contract that will charge the state a monthly penalty if it pays late.
