CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - A near disaster becomes just an odd looking inconvenience at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
A hospital spokeswoman says early Sunday morning high winds snapped a rotor off of an Arch helicopter that had landed on the hospital's roof-top helipad.
No one was injured, but the chopper could no longer fly.
Wednesday afternoon, a heavy-duty crane lifted the helicopter off the roof down onto a truck bound for St. Louis for repairs.
Hospital officials say they had a contingency plan in place just in case a patient needed to be airlifted out.
