"Holiday Mail for Heroes" underway

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

As we approach the holidays, the Southeast Missouri chapter of the American Red Cross encourages you to express your gratitude to our veterans and active duty members of the armed services by sending holiday greetings.

It's part of the "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program.

Jamie Koehler, the Emergency Services Director for the Southeast Missouri chapter of the American Red Cross said, "The American Red Cross has made or collected and distributed three and a half million cards to service members or to veterans. It's a way for us to reach out and to touch them and let them know that people back home here care about them, miss them, and wish them well during the holidays."

The cards must be postmarked no later than December 9th.

They should be addressed and sent to:

Holiday Mail for Heroes

P.O Box 5456

Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456

Participants are asked not to send "care packages" or monetary gifts. You're also asked not to use glitter on the cards.
