KENNETT, MO (KFVS) - A Kennett man is accused of animal neglect after authorities found eight animals in his home.
Robert Hess, 59, of Kennett faces eight counts of animal neglect.
He also had outstanding warrants in the city and county on unrelated charges.
Tena Petix with animal control in Kennett say it is one of the worst cases in town she has seen in a few years.
Petix says the six dogs and two cats were in poor health. She says they were covered in animal feces. Petix says the rugs and couches in the home were also covered in animal feces.
A city employee doing maintenance work at the home noticed it and called local authorities.
Petix says the two cats ran off and two of the dogs had to be put down.
She says the hair on one of the remaining four dogs was so matted that its mouth and eyes were matted shut.
Kennett Humane Officer Tena Petix along with Animal Control, Malden PD and Kennett PD responded to home on Thursday morning.
