There is some good and bad news today concerning jobs in the Heartland. US Foods is shutting its Paducah plant, with the services shifting to a recently expanded facility in Tennessee.
However, the former Goodyear tire plant in Union City, Tenn. has been sold to a maker of off-road equipment tires. The plant is expected to release the number of jobs that may be available early next week.
A southern Illinois Sheriff's Department is looking at having to lay off some staff. Carly O'Keefe will have more at 6.
A pick-up truck fire on Interstate 55 reduced traffic to one lane south of the Sikeston exit Friday morning.
