Alto Pass Vietnam vet to be honored on U.S. Army racing cars

ALTO PASS, IL (KFVS) -

As a Veterans Day tribute, a picture of Vietnam veteran Bobby Pruett will adorn the U.S. Army racing cars.

Drivers Tony Shumacher and Ryan Newman will compete in this weekend's NHRA and NASCAR races.

Pruett is being recognized nationally for his three tours of duty in Vietnam.

About 350 veterans will be honored along with Pruett.

e says he'll never forget when and where he was the moment he found out about this great honor.

"My daughter called me and I was on the front porch checking my iPad," said Pruett.  "She called me and told me and my head got about four times as big as it was.  I couldn't believe it.  It's a great honor to represent my Vietnam brothers."

Pruett thanks his son-in-law and daughter for sending in the picture.

Pruett will also be honored locally at SIU on Nov. 11 as a guest speaker at their Veterans Day celebration.
