RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - On college campuses across the country, students, faculty and relatives of veterans will spend hours this Veterans Day reading the names of the more than 6,000 Americans killed in the war effort in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Nov. 11 roll call has spread to a total of 182 colleges in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The commemoration, called the Remembrance Day National Roll Call, will include a minute of silence at 2 p.m. Eastern on all participating campuses.

Among those lending their voices to the roll call will be Matt Rawlings, a senior at Eastern Kentucky University, where the idea was born. It was Rawlings' task in Iraq to retrieve soldiers' bodies from battlefields and load flag-draped coffins on planes for the trip home.
