Man arrested after stabbing near Wardell

WARDELL, MO (KFVS) -

Deputies arrested one man accused in the Saturday stabbing of another man near Wardell.

According to the sheriff's office, it happened in rural Wardell at a residence on County Highway 244.

Lyndell Butler is charged with assault 1st degree and armed criminal action.

After getting the call, deputies on the way to the scene were told the suspect had left the area, and were given a vehicle description.

A short time later officers found the Butler in a vehicle about two miles from where the incident happened.  They took the suspect into custody.

When deputies got to the home, Ronnie Studie told them he had been stabbed. Studie told officers the stabbing happened after a physical altercation with the suspect.

EMS treated the victim at the scene, and he was later flown to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators say witness names and evidence were collected at the scene.

Butler's bond is set at $25,000.

    A fundraiser is in effect in Southern Illinois between Shawnee Tactical Solutions and the Stop the Bleeding Coalition to put specialized trauma kits in the hands of police departments.
