38 more samples collected in St. Louis E. coli investigation

ST. LOUIS, MO (KFVS) - Health officials say 38 additional samples have been collected in a continuing investigation of an E. coli outbreak in the St. Louis region.

The samples were collected from five Schnuck's grocery stores as a result of patient interviews, according to the Dept. of Health and Senior Services.

Health officials say testing is underway on the 38 samples.

Fifty-one samples total from have been tested, or are currently being tested by the State Lab from people suspected to have the illness.

DHSS reports 26 people have lab-confirmed E. coli illness.

The investigation is continuing.
