CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Dozens of people came out Sunday for the Fourth Annual Run for Youth Justice.
The run was held at Cape Girardeau County Parka at 2 p.m. and featured a 5K and door prizes.
The event's founder wants to convey a message to judges and lawyers, that teen offenders do not belong in prisons and jails with adult offenders.
"The parents in the system, we know what it is like," said Youth Advocate Tracy McClard. "But to change the system, you need a lot of people behind the cause, a lot of people that see it for the way it really is. The only way to do that is to educate them, to bring awareness to it."
The Run for Youth Justice has grown into 16 other states and Washington D.C.
