TAMAROA, IL (KFVS) -

Three crews were on the scene of a two story house fire Sunday morning in Perry County, Illinois. The house is located just off Ill. Rt. 51, north of the Ill. Rt. 154 intersection south of Tamaroa.

Route 51 was temporarily closed while tankers bring water to fight the fire.

A passerby reported seeing smoke just after 10 Sunday morning, according to Tamaroa Fire Department. Crews report lots of smoke with the blaze.

No one was home at the time the fire started.

The house fire was at the home of Jerry and Candy Higgerson.

Candy Higgerson's father, Robert Osborne, was the man who died from injuries in April after being hit by an SUV while crossing the street in his wheelchair.

Tamaroa, Du Quoin and Pinckneyville Fire Departments were all on the scene.
