MOUND CITY, IL (KFVS) - Mound City Police arrested two people accused of breaking into a convenience store and stealing cigarettes and alcohol.

Kristie Shockley, 21, and Appollo Hughes, 21, both of Mound City are charged with criminal damage to property, burglary, and theft over $500.

Police were dispatched to the Cut Mart Convenience Store during the early morning of Oct. 22.

Officers found the front glass of the business broken and telephone and security system wires cut.

One of the video recording systems still worked and police were able to identify the suspects on camera.

Owner Ali Abukhdair says it's not the first time he has been burglarized and hopes it's the last.

He says the video surveillance clearly identified the suspect. Abukhdair says he and his employees know all of their customers.

"There was no mistake who it was," said Abukhdair.

After making the identification the owner and his son-in-law went after the suspect, and called police once they knew the man's location.

Chief Lloyd Boesecker confirms Hughes was arrested at that location on Pearl Street.

Shockley was arrested at a later date.

Shockley and Hughes are being held in the Tri-County Detention Center.
