ULLIN, IL (KFVS) - Illinois State Police are planning to have several "Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement Patrols" (ACE) in November in four southern Illinois counties.
ISP District 22 are planning the ACE patrols for Massac, Johnson, Union and Alexander Counties.
According to ISP, the patrols allow troopers to target an area with heavy patrols that focus on preventing, detecting and enforcing action responding to illegal transportation or consumption of alcohol and other drugs.
ISP officials say that alcohol and drug impairment are significant factors in over 40-percent of car crashes in Illinois.
The project is funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, Div. of Traffic Safety.
