CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) - A former southern Illinois prison warden was back in court Wednesday. This time, it was before the 5th district appellate court at SIUs Law School.
The court heard arguments in a civil case which ordered William Barham to pay more than $1 million in damages from a crash that killed his co-worker, Jerry Isom more than 10-years-ago.
At the time, Barham was the warden of the Shawnee Correctional Center.
After the crash, Barham was convicted of reckless homicide and aggravated DUI.
But an appellate court later threw that conviction out in 2003.
Then in 2010, a Saline County jury decided in favor of Isom's family in a civil case.
Wednesday, Barham's attorneys' argued to appeal that ruling before the appellate court.
