SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) - A central Kentucky coroner says an experienced logger has died after a 70-foot tree fell on him.
Pulaski County Coroner Richard New told the Lexington Herald-Leader that 48-year-old Roger Burdine had been standing on a hillside on Friday and did not see the tree coming his way (http://bit.ly/qh5T5j).
New said Burdine had been cutting trees in eastern Pulaski County when the incident happened.
New said Burdine was wearing a helmet and protective headphones, which prevented him from hearing a warning yell.
New said Burdine died instantly of head trauma.
New said Burdine and his brother, Roy, owned and operated Burdine Logging.
