Road open after train derailment in Fulton

FULTON, KY (KFVS) - KY 116/West State Line Road were closed in Fulton for a short time Thursday morning after a train derailment.

Rail cars that came off the track scraped the support structure of an overpass at KY 116 mile, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

It happened between Stephen Beale Street and Sunset Avenue on KY 116/West State Line Street in Fulton.

KY 116 and other roads in the area area open.

A Kentucky Transportation Cabinet inspector is headed to Fulton to check the overpass as a precautionary measure. An initial check of the overpass support structure indicated only superficial scrapes on the concrete.

No hazardous materials were involved in the derailment and no injuries were reported by the railroad.
