Jackson woman grateful family is okay after house fire

JACKSON, MO (KFVS) -

A woman says that her family was fortunate to escape a Thursday morning fire at her home in Jackson.

The woman who lives at the home says she and her children are doing okay.

The woman fell while carrying her child out of the building.

It happened Thursday morning in a two story home on Greensferry Road.

Crews were able to keep the flames contained to the attic.

Jackson firefighters were called to a house fire at 211 Greensferry Rd. in Jackson shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20.

Flames could be seen shooting from the upstairs of the two story white house when firefighters arrived.

According to the rental property owners, two couples lived inside with their children and were able to get out safely.

One of the women fell with a young child leaving the house, and they were taken to the hospital be examined as a precaution.

The home appears to have suffered damage from the fire in the second story and roof.
